The Caught by the River Social Club

In three Tuesday evenings time on October 4th you will find myself and the writers Luke Jennings, Charles Rangeley-Wilson and Chris Yates sitting upstairs in The Stag Public House in the neighbourhood of London known as Hampstead where we will be reading, talking and imbibing as The Caught by the River Social Club presents 'Words on Water'.  At the evening, sponsored by Sambrook's Brewery, there will also be a small bookstall selling signed copies of the authors' works as well as copies of Caught by the River's 'On Nature'.  You are invited to come and lose yourself for the evening.

Highgate No. 3 Pond

Occasionally on a Monday morning in Arcadia there is always the chance that one might find oneself in pursuit of a roach or a perch on Highgate No. 3 Pond, a water fed by the lost River Fleet.

Arcadia Building

The Miniature Museum of Thames Angling History closed its door at dusk last night after its only but most enjoyable day of opening.  This morning in Arcadia, all those who visited it on the approaches to Southwark Bridge are being gratefully toasted with pots of strong bargee tea, fried tomatoes from the A3 Car Boot Sale and sensational Baker-Bulleid Bread Rolls.

The Empress of Arcadia's Patent Canvas Van Hood

More used to making dresses for the glamourous and the good, the Empress of Arcadia found herself employed during the last week in the small matter of designing and making her very own 'Patent Canvas Van Hood' from a 17 metre bolt of 12oz canvas to encase the 'Miniature Museum of Thames Angling History'.  This Double Parked Pavilion for the Soul shall be situated on the pavement at the north end of Southwark Bridge today as part of The Thames Festival's 'Feast on the Bridge'.  Door open from midday until sunset.  Teas graciously accepted.  Efgeeco Umbrella on duty for passing showers.

Caught in Conversation

You are warned that there will be outbreaks of conversation by the river whilst the door to the 'Miniature Museum of Thames Angling History' is open tomorrow between the hours of Midday and sunset at the North End of Southwark Bridge in the City known as London, not to mention at around tea-time on the Bandstand when writers Mr. Jon Berry, Mr. Luke Jennings and myself may say a word or two.

Spitalfields

Once upon a time in Arcadia and namely today, Thursday 8th September, I shall not be on my stall at Spitalfields Market as I will be continuing to build 'The Miniature Museum of Thames Angling History' in the back of my van, using relics of the market past discovered at Wimbledon Car Boot Sale and the assistance of other friends of the late hour with the interior.

Saturday Matinee

For all those who may find themselves loitering at the North End of Southwark Bridge on Saturday afternoon whilst attending The Thames Festival's 'Feast on the Bridge' you may like to know that inside the 'Miniature Museum of Thames Angling History' there will be a looped Slideshow for the Soul on the theme of the River.  There may also be the impromptu screening of footage from the 1951 Festival of Britain International Angling Contest.
