Silt Road - The Story of a Lost River

An uncustomary early start in Arcadia for the morning after a night before where glasses were raised and bottles sunk to the west of town in honour of the publication of Mr. Charles Rangeley-Wilson's new book 'Silt Road - The Story of a Lost River'.  You may read a review of the book at Caught by the River where it is has been declared The Book of the Month.

William Garden of Union Street

Once upon a time in Arcadia, most probably on a Thursday, ladies and gentlemen wishing to buy fishing tackle in the teeth of a north-easterly wind cold enough to cut them to the bone would hurry along granite streets to the fine premises of William Garden Ltd - Gun and Fishing Tackle Makers at 216 Union Street in the Scottish town of Aberdeen.

Today, in the Year of Our Ice Age 2013, the climate is such that you will find weather previously restricted to Aberdeen in April as far south as the district of London known as E.1 where you may shelter under the fine iron and glass structure of Spitalfields Antiques Market on a Thursday between the hours of 8am and 3pm and buy from me Vintage Fishing Tackle for the Soul such as the type that was once for sale at William Garden.

To Fool a Trout

Across Arcadia it is the first day of April and as such in certain districts, the season for trout on a fly opens today.  To all those setting out in hope of finding a hatch, glasses of Victory Gin are raised.  Good luck and good hunting!
