The Social Christmas Market - We Always Dress Like This

Tomorrow between the hours of 12.30pm and 5.30pm you will find me stalled out at The Social Christmas Market at The Social number 5 Little Portland Street in the district of London known as W.1, where, alongside The Empress, Caught by the River and Central St. Martins School of Art & Design I shall be selling Vintage Fishing Clobber for the Soul, a one day controlled riot of bags, scarves, boots and even the odd coat all issued by the Arcadia Quartermaster from The Stores also known as the depths of my lock-up.  In addition to this I shall have for continued sale my Pike for the Soul Christmas Cards a letterpress design and execution by Martin Clark and Anneliese Appleby of Tilley Printing.

Meanwhile on the walls and in the alcoves of the bar my midwinter exhibition of Vintage Angling Ephemera & Occasional Works of Art for the Soul carries on against the backdrop of a bar serving light ales and the bloodiest of Mary's alongside hot meat pies from the kitchen.  Should you be abroad on the streets of London I look forward to your good company!

S & K Edwards Fishing Tackle & Bait, 10 Quay Road, Gorleston-on-Sea

Once upon a time in Arcadia and most likely upon a Thursday also, ladies and gentlemen abroad on the very fringes of the eastern coast of the zone known as Anglia would buy their fishing tackle and bait from S & K Edwards whose premises stood at 10 Quay Road in the seaside town of Gorleston.  There, they would have the option of buying a reed bass such as the one below with which to knock about town.

Should you be a lady or gentlemen abroad on the very fringes of the eastern coast of the zone known as Anglia or indeed, knocking about within the vicinity of the district of London known as E1 you are reminded that I continue the tradition of heroic premises such as those belonging to S & K Edwards of Gorleston every Thursday betweeen the hours of 8am and 3 on my stall in Spitalfields Antiques Market on Commercial Street, London E1, where I sell Vintage Fishing Tackle for the Soul including original reed bass and other delights.

Advent in Arcadia

For all those lost without a map in compass in the month of December the by now traditional daily communication known as Advent in Arcadia has begun.  This involves a small but delightful item of Vintage Fishing Tackle for the Soul being listed upon my website, or details of happenings being revealed and a tiny snapshot of such being sent by way of electronic mail to a number of addresses that shall remain secret.  Should you wish to receive this communication every day in advent up until Christmas Day itself and you are not already doing so please contact me and I shall add you to the list.

In the meantime and without further ado please find here the subject of today's Advent in Arcadia, an Allcocks "Snap-Em" Pike Live Bait Outfit.

The Lost Art of the Beermat

The lost art of the beermat was revived yesterday with the West End debut of one produced by myself and Martin Clark & Anneliese Appleby to celebrate the opening of Andrews of Arcadia meets The Social Uptown at the first Social Christmas Market of the season.   A convivial crew including the intrepid Tilley duo who travelled by iron road all the way from Ledbury town and Dusty the Bedlington Terrier set sail on an ocean of Pale leaving behind them only the ghostly footprints of their glasses.  The exhibition is now declared open and will run throughout midwinter.  You are encouraged to call in for a Light Ale, ask for a catalogue which are kept behind the bar and view the exhibits which are all for sale.  Should you wish to have a catalogue sent to you in the post please call me on field telephone 07980 274 383.  Thank-you.
