Recipe for Preserving Minnows c. 1946

Found written in pencil in the back of a 1946 copy of 'Border River Angling' by W.H. Lawrie a 'Recipe for Preserving Minnows'.   The Recipe was prescribed by the owner of the book whose signature on the inner leaf is indistinguishable.  The Recipe is as follows:  'Leave for 12 hours in a solution - 2 tablespoons of 40% formalin to every half pint of water.  Wash thoroughly, cut off all fins except tail and store in screw top jars in a solution of salt and water (one tablespoon to half a pint).  Minnows should be fat and 1 1/2 inches long'.

For all those of you who do not wish to subscribe to the demands of such a recipe you may find a jar of Hardy's Preserved Minnows 'In the Shop Window'  http://www.andrewsofarcadia.com/home.php?id=3.
