Before the 1936 Barbour International

Found yesterday at Kempton as the rain clouds gathered ominously over the grandstand and the roar of Sunbury Weir could be heard growing on the wind, a 1925 Hardy's Anglers Guide.  Those of you inclined to eat the cake of life in the rain could do worse than turn to its section for waterproofed garments all of which are approved by the Arcadia Quartermaster.  Each of these delights of Paramatta cloth were on sale to the Great British Public over a decade before Barbour revolutionised things by introducing its Waxed International Jacket.  You can read a homage to Barbour courtesy of the Spy Department at i-D magazine http://www.i-donline.com/i-spy/i-conic-international-barbour-jacket
